Garden City Rescue Mission started in 2001 as a shelter for homeless men. (The Women & Children's Shelter was not added until 2007.) Today, the men's shelter houses about fifty men each night.

Each man who comes for help will receive:
A change of clothes
- Any personal hygiene or any basic first aid help he may need.
- A shower with soap, shampoo, wash cloth and towel provided.
- A warm meal (usually with dessert)
- He will attend the evening chapel service at the Mission .
- He will be given a clean and safe bed space for the night.
- Breakfast in the morning
- Free bus tickets to go to work (Provided through us by United Way )
- GED classes that are held on site at the Mission (Hosted by Augusta Tech)
- Free out of town bus ticket if needed (Provided through us by United Way)

| Men who show a real desire for a life change can also receive: |

All of the above Plus
- A position on the volunteer staff at the Mission which helps them gain stability (Making it possible for them to stay for an extended length of time)
Substance abuse counseling through Brother Travis or outside sources
- A good referral from our staff when applying for new jobs
- They can be a part of the Recovery Care Ministry at Victory Baptist Church or other local recovery type programs
- Help from the Mission with furnishings as they move out on their own
